Philip began singing in high school choir discovering what would become a life long passion.  At 16 he sought out a voice teacher and began travelling to New York city each week to study with Metropolitan Opera Company's Doris Hollenbach.    At 17 he left for college and discovered his second passion, the theatre, and didn't sing a note for four years focusing instead on acting and voice for the stage.

Upon graduation, he headed to Dallas, TX  to pursue a career in the theatre.  Soon after his arrival, he was cast in a musical and quickly became reaquainted with his singing voice.  While in Dallas, he found an exceptionally gifted voice teacher in Anne Jackson and began acting classes at Southern Methodist University.  While building his performance resume with The Dallas Opera, Dallas Lyric Opera, and working extensively in plays and musicals at theatres in the region, he set his sights on moving to New York.  His keen interest in classical, contemporary and broadway vocal styles led him to continually explore ways to approach the unique demands of each style in a healthy and honest way, forming the basis of his approach to singing.

Upon his arrival in New York. he continued voice studies with renowned teacher Bill Shuman and delved deeper into voice for the stage work studying with Kristen Linklater.  He began to work almost immediately first Off-Broadway, then in National and European Tours and soon after on Broadway.  His ability to bridge different styles so successfuly caught the attention of others who began asking him to teach them how to do it as well.  He welcomed the opportunity to share the excitement of exploring his voice with others and he continues to find joy in helping them succeed.

Philip is active as a performer singing in musicals, in solo concert performances and with Symphony orchestras throughout the United States.  His students have performed on Broadway, in regional theatres, on national tours, in coffehouses, bars, clubs and concert venues all over the world.
