My Story

I’m the luckiest man I know because I get to do what I love every day. I fell in love with singing in high school. I got hooked on acting in college playing ‘Big Daddy’ in Tennessee William’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and I’ve been passionately pursuing both ever since. Fast forward to 2019 and that skinny, cigar-smoking college kid in a fat suit had no clue how far he would go and how lucky he’d be!

I made my Broadway debut in the Original Cast of the Tony Award-winning Kander and Ebb musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Harold Prince. In it, I created the role of Esteban and later went on to play the impassioned revolutionary Valentin in London’s West End and on Broadway. Later, I became the only man in Broadway history to play both Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert in Les Miserables. I created the role of Reverend Gonzalez opposite Marc Anthony and Ruben Blades in the Original Broadway Cast of Paul Simon’s The Capeman. I’ve also performed leading roles in national and international tours, in great plays at prestigious regional theatres, sang as a guest soloist with symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. and recorded a very cool Latin-Jazz album with a big band.

My love affair with my favorite stage role, Cervantes/Quijote in the beautiful Man of La Mancha, continues with 2017 Mac and 2019 Connecticut Critics Circle Awards for Best Actor in a Musical.

I also love working on television. Most recently I’ve guest-starred on Bull (CBS), Blue Bloods (CBS), The Blacklist (NBC) and I’m thrilled to have had recurring roles on The Path (HULU) and Gotham (FOX). You may also have caught me playing opposite Edie Falco and Tony Shaloub on Nurse JackieDebra Messing on Mysteries of Laura, Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu on Elementary and Dylan McDermott on Hostages. Other television appearances include Damages, Person of Interest, Law and Order, Made in Jersey, Ugly Betty, All My Children, One Life To Live, Loving and Another World.

I recently launched my narration career with two titles for Penguin Random House: E.G. Scott’s suspense thriller, RULE OF THREE and Matt De La Pena’s children’s book PATCHWORK. I also narrated THE REMARKABLE ROCKET and THE FISHERMAN AND HIS SOUL for THE OSCAR WILDE SUITE. You can hear some of my audiobook work here.

I’m most proud of my beautiful family.  Twenty-five-year-old daughter, Mariah, precocious eight-year-old daughter, Tallulah, and my brilliant, beautiful wife, social media strategist Heidi Dean.

.Welcome to my world!  Stay tuned for what lies ahead!
